Ornaments in a Box

Ornaments in a Box

I am already thinking about Christmas 2022. The only way I am going to have plenty of my ornaments in a box is if I start now. I get side tracked so easily. Anyone else like that?

Quilt Squares as Ornaments

Anyway, I am making quilt square ornaments. The fabric is all from the scraps I’ve accumulated from my own projects; but mostly from other people!

I thought about how to sell them in sets. I decided to make little fabric “boxes” that will hold four ornaments and would make the set a perfect gift.

“Box” for the ornaments

After coming up with the idea I needed to do a bit of playing around with fabrics and patterns. After working at it for a while I made a set for friends to get feedback.

Lara's set of four ornaments and the box she made for them to go into. The ornaments ar quilted and have a pinwheel design with colorful ribbon.
Four ornaments and a “box” – I did the embroidery by machine.

Not Quite Right… yet

I decided the box isn’t quite right. I don’t want a handle – I think it should fold over or have a button to keep it closed, or something!

I’ll keep working at it until I figure out what feels the best. If you want to read more about my workspace and process check out Upcycled by Lara in an RV!

  1. These are great! Love the idea of a fold over closure with a button to match the ornaments
