One of the first
Black and white baby quilt.
At the end of 2022, I joined LSMQG (Lake Superior Modern Quilt Guild).
Being so new to quilting, I grabbed some of the "hand me down" fabrics I had from other sewing projects and from my mom's friends, and designed and pieced this baby quilt. By joining an online class with Karen McTavish, I learned what and how to quilt my quilt sandwich. The main takeaway from this class (she shared so much, but I was so clueless and new, so my takeaways were few but impactful) was to design something unexpected and to focus the design on solid color fabrics where they would be seen. Karen shared examples for this specific quilt. I used her suggestions and completed one of my first self-designed quilts.
