Goodbye, sweet Kona

We are so, so sad. Our girl crossed the rainbow a couple days before Christmas. Kona (or as we called her lovingly, Kona Coffee Can) was our bestie for almost 16 years. We met her as a tiny puppy after she was found abandoned on the side of a road in Virginia. Kona was so gentle and cute, we knew she was our perfect first dog.

Walks With Kona

Kona’s walks were never just forward. She would backtrack when she caught a scent, spend a full minute or more smelling every part of a flower or a blade of grass, and zigzag to follow her nose. Our girl loved digging and would end up with dirt and sand all over her nose and mouth as she sniffed as hard as she could.

Get your puppy on

Andrew taught her to do this cute little chomp at his face as he did the same to her – making eye contact the whole time. Coffee Can always welcomed us home with a toy in her mouth and a growl (we also taught her to do this as a positive noise) running back and forth with excitement. Up until her last week, Kona “got her puppy on.” She would get so excited and playful, bouncing around, hopping in circles and playing keep away with or without a toy.

Easy Going

Kona moved from house to house and into the RV with ease. She was comfortable anywhere, enjoying the adventure of the new space and especially the car ride to get there.

Coffee Can showed us how to enjoy the moment, to take the winding path, to follow our hearts, to smell the flowers, and relax. Now she’s joined her furry sisters over the rainbow. We miss her, we are grateful we got to belong to each other. We love you, Kona Coffee Can❤️
